Fresh-Milled Sourdough Soft Pretzels

Finished sourdough soft pretzels

This recipe was adapted from Grainsinsmallplaces to be a sourdough recipe. Soft pretzels are so fun to make! I decided to make normal soft pretzels and pretzel bites! I also made a cinnamon sugar pretzel for myself. It would also be so good if you made a cheese dip to go with these!

The Dough

To make this recipe, I doubled the rise times to allow the sourdough to rise. I mixed up all the ingredients until I got a window pane without tearing. I also used maple syrup because I didn’t have malt syrup. When the dough was ready, I let it rise for 2 hours.

Shaping the Pretzels

After the dough rose, I pre-shaped each piece into a log. Then, after 10 minutes. I shaped them into pretzels. Then I covered them and let them proof for an hour before boiling and baking.

Bake

After boiling, salt the pretzels and preheat the oven to 400*F and bake for 14-18 minutes. Then you can enjoy them!
